Messenger chatbot

A Messenger chatbot for your Facebook page

Your Facebook page has been there for years, and some customers would still rather message you there than send an email. The bot answers them in Facebook Messenger, politely and with your own information.

The situation

The Facebook page nobody checks any more

Monday, 17:30, a family-run car dealership on the edge of town. A message comes in through the Facebook page: “Good afternoon. My wife and I are looking for a smaller car with an automatic gearbox. Do you have anything like that, and could we come for a test drive on a weekday morning? Kind regards, K. Schulte”. The salesman is out on a handover. He'll see it tonight. Maybe.

A lot of businesses set up their Facebook page once and then more or less forgot about it. Their customers didn't. Older customers in particular, and people from the area, use Messenger the way they'd write a letter, with a greeting and a sign-off. They're not expecting a reply in seconds. They are expecting one that actually answers what they asked.

The Messenger chatbot answers what's in your documents and takes down appointment requests. Mr Schulte has his reply before the salesman is back from the handover.

In detail

What you get

Proper sentences, from your own documents

People who write on Messenger often write at length and politely. The bot replies in full sentences and in the language it was written to in. Its knowledge comes from the same sources as your website bot: service descriptions, price lists, your website, your own Q&A pairs.

It only knows what's in there. If someone asks about a price you haven't put anywhere, the bot says so plainly and offers to pass the question on to you. A friendly wrong answer would be worse.

Viewings, consultations, test drives: appointments in the chat

A lot of Messenger enquiries end up as an appointment. With the Flow Builder you set up a short sequence for that, no coding needed. The bot asks what the visit is about and for a phone number, and checks along the way that the details make sense. With a calendar connected, the customer picks a free slot straight away.

  • Asks for phone, email or preferred date, with validation
  • Branches depending on what the customer needs
  • Booking via Calendly, Google Calendar or Outlook

When you want to reply yourself

If you answer directly in Facebook Messenger, My-Chatify notices and the bot steps back from that conversation. After roughly 30 minutes without activity from you, the AI answers again. That way you and the bot don't talk over each other.

The shared inbox is often the easier option. Messenger chats appear there next to those from your website, WhatsApp and Instagram, each marked with its channel. Photos and files customers send are kept with the conversation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about this topic.

Does anyone still use Facebook Messenger?

That depends a lot on your customers. Local businesses with a well-kept Facebook page often get more enquiries there than they'd expect, especially from older customers. A quick look in your page's inbox will tell you.

Can I still reply myself in Messenger?

Yes. As soon as you write in a conversation, the bot steps back there. After about 30 minutes without activity from you, it takes over again.

Can the bot book appointments?

Yes, through a flow and a connected calendar. Calendly, Google Calendar and Outlook are supported.

Do I have to maintain a separate bot for Messenger?

No. It's the same assistant as on your website, WhatsApp and Instagram. Change something once and it applies everywhere.

Which plan do I need?

Facebook Messenger is included from the Professional plan, along with WhatsApp and Instagram. You can try the assistant on the free plan beforehand.
