TYPO3

A chat widget for TYPO3 sites with lots of pages and documents

TYPO3 websites are often large, multilingual and full of PDFs. The bot reads that content and answers questions about it in the chat. It gets onto the site with one short script tag that you or your agency add.

An education provider's TYPO3 site, Wednesday, 20:07

The situation

Hundreds of pages, one question

Wednesday, 20:05. On an education provider's TYPO3 website, a woman is looking for the entry requirements for an evening course. The course page points to a PDF, the PDF to a funding page, the funding page to a form. Ten minutes later she still doesn't know whether she can sign up.

The information is correct, current and carefully maintained by the editorial team. It just lives in three places at once.

The bot knows all three. It answers the question in a few sentences and names the page where she can go next. The editors keep working in TYPO3 as before.

In detail

What you get

Adding it to TYPO3

The widget is added with one short script tag. You'll find the embed code in the dashboard under "Embed". With TYPO3 this is usually done by your agency or web provider, and nothing changes for your editors.

One script tag covers as many pages as you like. Colours, name, logo and greeting are set in the dashboard, not in the TYPO3 back end. The widget adapts to desktop and mobile.

  • Embed code from the dashboard
  • Add it once, available on every page
  • Look and feel set in the dashboard

Lots of pages, lots of PDFs

You give the bot your website address or selected URLs, plus PDFs, Word files and your own texts. For every question it searches these sources first and only then writes its answer. How many URLs you can add per assistant depends on your plan.

So that editorial changes come through, the bot re-reads website sources automatically, daily, weekly or monthly. If something is missing, you'll see the question in the analytics as unanswered.

  • Website URLs, PDFs and Word files
  • Automatic re-crawl from the Basic plan
  • Unanswered questions in the analytics

Multilingual without translation work

The bot replies in the language the visitor writes in, even if your content is only in German. The widget interface is available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch.

For websites with an international audience, that means a question in English gets an answer in English, without you translating every page in TYPO3.

Data protection and agencies

Hosting is on servers in Germany and the EU, connections are TLS-encrypted, and we provide a data processing agreement (AVV). Conversations and content are not used to train AI models.

If an agency looks after several TYPO3 projects, each client gets their own assistant with its own isolated database. With white-label, the widget carries the client's logo and colours; that's available in the higher plans.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about this topic.

Is there a TYPO3 extension?

My-Chatify is added with a short script tag; you'll find the embed code in the dashboard under "Embed". Your agency can work out the best place for it in your TYPO3 installation, or you can talk to our team in Dortmund.

Do our editors need to learn anything new?

No. The editors keep working in TYPO3. The bot re-reads the pages regularly if you've switched on automatic re-crawling.

Does the bot answer in English if our site is only in German?

Yes. It replies in the language the visitor writes in, even if your content is in German.

Is this workable for public institutions from a data protection point of view?

Hosting is in Germany and the EU, transmission is encrypted, an AVV is available, and content isn't used for AI training. Whether that meets your internal requirements is best checked by your data protection officer.

What happens if the bot can't answer a question?

It says so instead of guessing and offers, for example, to take contact details or hand over to your team in live chat. The question shows up in the analytics as unanswered.
