WhatsApp chatbot

A WhatsApp chatbot that knows when to keep quiet

Your customers already message you on WhatsApp. The bot handles the quick questions using the same knowledge as your website assistant, and it steps aside the moment you reply from the WhatsApp Business app.

The situation

WhatsApp isn't a contact form

Saturday, 8:05. A florist is unloading the morning delivery. Her phone buzzes: “r u open tomorrow??” Then: “can I still order a bouquet for my mum for today”. Then a photo of a bouquet someone saw online, with the question “can u do something like this”.

People write differently on WhatsApp. Short, no greeting, usually on the move. And they expect something back soon. If you've been answering all that from your own phone between other jobs, you know the feeling of never quite being done.

The WhatsApp chatbot takes over those short, practical questions about opening hours, orders and appointments. It draws on the same sources as your website bot. Anything that needs a person stays with you.

In detail

What you get

What happens when you reply yourself

Plenty of owners don't want to hand their WhatsApp over completely. You don't have to. If you answer a chat directly in the WhatsApp Business app, My-Chatify notices and the bot steps back from that conversation on its own. So you're not talking over each other, and the customer doesn't get two different answers to one question.

After roughly 30 minutes with no activity from your side, the AI picks the conversation up again. If the customer comes back with another question at nine in the evening, someone still answers.

Photos, PDFs and screenshots

WhatsApp is full of pictures. The broken part, the slip with the order number, a screenshot of an invoice. The bot confirms it has received them, and they're saved with the conversation, so your team finds them right there when they take over.

The actual judgement stays with you. Whether that bouquet in the photo can be done with what's in the shop today is something a florist decides, not a chatbot.

WhatsApp chats in the shared inbox

WhatsApp conversations land in the same inbox as your website chats, marked as WhatsApp. When the bot hands over, your team replies from there with the full history on screen. It doesn't have to be whoever happens to have the work phone in their pocket.

  • Same knowledge as your website bot
  • Same flows, for appointment requests for example
  • Handover to your team with full history
  • Real-time notifications for new handovers

What it isn't for

The WhatsApp chatbot answers messages your customers send you. Newsletters, broadcasts and marketing campaigns over WhatsApp are not part of it. If that's what you're after, you'll need a different tool, and we'd rather tell you now than after you've signed up.

How it works

Getting the bot onto WhatsApp

No coding, no IT project. Live in under 3 minutes.

  1. 01

    Get your assistant ready

Create an assistant, add your content and test it in the Playground. If you already have a website bot, you can skip this step.

  2. 02

    Connect WhatsApp

In the dashboard, connect the assistant to your business's Meta accounts. If you'd rather not do it alone, we'll go through it with you.

  3. 03

    Try it out

Send your business number a few typical questions from your personal phone. After that the bot runs, and you can jump in whenever you want.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about this topic.

Can I still reply myself in the WhatsApp Business app?

Yes. As soon as you reply in a chat, the bot backs off in that conversation. After about 30 minutes without activity from you, it takes over again.

Does the WhatsApp bot know the same things as my website bot?

Yes, it's the same assistant with the same sources and flows. Anything you upload or change once applies on every channel.

What happens to photos customers send?

The bot confirms it got them, and the image or file is saved with the conversation. Your team sees it in the inbox as soon as they open the chat.

Can I send newsletters over WhatsApp with it?

No. My-Chatify answers the messages that come in to you. It isn't built for broadcasts or campaigns.

Which plan do I need?

WhatsApp is included from the Professional plan, along with Instagram and Facebook Messenger. You can test the assistant itself with your own content on the free plan first.
