The situation

A well-kept site, and people still ask

Thursday, 21:15. On a driving school's WordPress site, someone wants to know what a car licence costs and when the next theory evening is. Both are on the website, one under "Prices", the other in a post from last month. He finds only one and sends an email that won't be read until the next day.

Plenty of well-maintained WordPress sites are like this. The content is there, but spread across pages, posts and PDFs. Visitors don't search, they ask.

The chat widget gives them somewhere to ask. The bot knows what's on your pages and answers in full sentences, even at nine in the evening.

In detail

What you get

Adding it to WordPress

In the dashboard, under "Embed", you'll find a short embed code. Paste it into your site's HTML, for example in your theme, and the widget appears. If you look after your WordPress site yourself, you can do this without a developer. Otherwise your web agency will have it done in a few minutes.

One script tag covers as many pages as you like. Colour, name, logo and welcome text are set in the dashboard, not in WordPress. The widget adapts to desktop and mobile.

  • Embed code from the dashboard
  • Add it once, available on every page
  • Colours, logo and greeting in the dashboard

Your pages as knowledge, kept up to date

Give the bot your website address or individual URLs. The pages are read and stored in a separate database that belongs only to your assistant. Add PDFs, Word files and Q&A pairs on top.

If you change a price or a date in WordPress, the bot needs to know. That's what automatic re-crawling is for: website sources are read again daily, weekly or monthly. Uploaded PDFs you replace yourself.

  • Whole website or individual URLs
  • PDFs, Word files and your own text
  • Automatic re-crawl from the Basic plan

WooCommerce stores

If your WordPress site runs a WooCommerce store, the chat works there in the same way. The bot reads your product pages by URL and answers questions about products, shipping, returns and payment methods.

There is no direct WooCommerce integration. My-Chatify offers live product search and product cards for Shopware and Shopify, and order status lookup for Shopware only. In WooCommerce, the bot knows what's on the pages it has read.

More than answers

If you like, the bot asks for contact details and creates leads from them, books appointments via Calendly, Google Calendar or Outlook, or hands over to your team in live chat. It all runs in the same widget and is set up in the dashboard.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about this topic.

Do I need a WordPress plugin?

For the chat, the embed code from the dashboard is enough; you paste it into your site. If you're unsure where it best goes in your theme, your web agency can sort it out in a few minutes, or ask our team in Dortmund.

Does the bot notice when I change a page?

Yes, if you switch on automatic re-crawling. Website sources are then read again daily, weekly or monthly. For a site that changes often, daily makes sense.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

The chat runs in WooCommerce stores too. The bot then answers from your product pages, which it reads by URL. Live product search, product cards and order status are not available for WooCommerce.

Can the bot book appointments on my WordPress site?

Yes, from the Basic plan. It connects to Calendly, Google Calendar or Outlook. Visitors pick a free slot in the chat without leaving the page.

Can I match the widget to my design?

Yes. Colour, name, logo, welcome text and the little speech bubble next to the chat icon are set in the dashboard. From the Professional plan you can also remove the My-Chatify branding.
